Fellowship Stipend and Tenure

Selected candidates will receive a competitive monthly stipend to support their research endeavors in Delhi. Senior Research Fellows will be paid Rs. 50,000/- per month, while Junior Research Fellows will receive Rs. 25,000/- per month, subject to applicable TDS under the Income Tax Act. The tenure of the fellowship is initially for one year from the date of joining, with provisions for performance reviews every three months by the Monitoring Committee. Outstanding fellows may receive an extension of up to one additional year based on committee recommendations and competent authority approval.

Eligibility Criteria and Qualifications

Applicants must be residents of the Union Territory of Delhi residing there for the prescribed duration. The upper age limit is generally capped at 40 years, with no age bar applicable to the Oriental Languages (Urdu/Persian) field.

  • Records Management: Master's in History with Modern Indian History (min 55%) plus a One Year Diploma in Archives & Records Management.
  • Conservation: Master's in Conservation, Preservation & Heritage Management or equivalent (min 55%).
  • Digitization: B.Tech (IT/Computer Science) or MCA with a minimum of 55% marks.
  • Dissemination of Information/Data: Graduation in any discipline with 55% marks, with preference given to postgraduates in communication technology.
  • Micro-filming: Bachelor’s Degree in Science (min 55%) with an 8-week certificate course in Reprography from the National Archives of India.
  • Research & Publication: Master's in History (min 55%) with a specialization in Modern Indian History.
  • Oriental Languages (Urdu/Persian): Master's in Persian or Urdu with a minimum of 55% marks.

Application Fee

Candidates must submit a bank draft drawn in favor of the "DDO, Department of Delhi Archives, GNCTD". General candidates are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 500/-, whereas OBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD, and women candidates are required to submit a reduced fee of Rs. 250/- only.

Selection Process

The selection of candidates will be determined through a rigorous evaluation framework carrying a total weightage of 100 marks. The criteria evaluate academic qualifications at graduation and post-graduation levels, M.Phil or Ph.D. degrees, specialized diplomas or certificates, the quality and submission of the research synopsis, prior relevant work experience, and a personal interview.
