Odisha Police SPO Recruitment 2026 Overview

Odisha Police invites applications from retired police officers for contractual engagement as Special Police Officers (SPOs) in Western Range, Rourkela. A total of 75 vacancies have been announced across districts including Kendujhar, Sundaragada, and Rourkela. The contractual employment is for a period of one year.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be permanent residents of Odisha, should not be more than 65 years of age on the date of publication of the advertisement, and must be able to speak, read, and write Odia. Candidates must have an unblemished service record, should not have been convicted in any criminal case or awarded major punishment in departmental proceedings, and must not have pending criminal cases or more than one spouse living. They must have previously worked with State Police in the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector, Sub-Inspector, or Inspector of Police, and possess a very good or good CCR/PAR for a continuous sixty months before superannuation, along with having vacated their earlier allotted quarters.

Selection Procedure

The selection test includes the verification of original documents, a medical test, a physical test, and an interview. Candidates must be physically fit and capable of discharging field duty, including covering a distance of 5 kilometers on foot within one hour. Qualified candidates in the medical and physical tests will appear before the Selection Board for an interview.

Candidates must submit their applications in a neatly typed form along with required documents including two recent passport-size self-attested photographs, self-attested copies of age and qualification certificates, a self-attested copy of the discharge certificate, and two character certificates attested by two different Group-B Gazetted Officers. Applications must reach the Office of the DIG of Police, Western Range, Rourkela, Sector-5, Rourkela on or before 15.10.2026 by 05:30 PM.
