Overview of Kerala Public Service Commission Guidelines

The Kerala Public Service Commission issues notifications for various government posts through the Kerala Gazette, PSC Bulletin, and newspapers. Candidates interested in applying for these positions must ensure they strictly meet all eligibility criteria and modalities specified in the official notification and the general conditions under part II of part IB Kerala Gazette.

Application Rules and Qualification Deadlines

Applicants must acquire all prescribed educational qualifications within the last date fixed in the notification for the receipt of applications. Acquiring qualifications subsequently will result in disqualification. Furthermore, candidates applying for district-wise posts must avoid sending applications to more than one District Office under the same category number in the same notification, as this will lead to the rejection of all such applications, deletion from ranked lists, or termination from service if appointed.

Age Limits and Relaxations

Age limits are clearly specified under each post notification. Generally, SC and ST candidates receive a 5-year age relaxation, while OBC candidates receive a 3-year relaxation. The base date for calculating an applicant's age is the 1st day of January of the year in which the commission publishes the notification.

Selection Process and Ranked Lists

Ranked lists are prepared based on the descending order of total marks secured in written tests and interviews. In case of a tie in marks, age is considered, followed by alphabetical order of names. These ranked lists remain in force for one year and can extend up to three years or until a new list is published. Non-creamier layer certificates are accepted without any 3-month restriction, but certificates meant for Central Government jobs are strictly not accepted.
