The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UPSSSC) is holding the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2026 on revised dates: 25 October, 30 October and 1 November 2026. The exam was earlier planned for 23, 24 and 25 October. Admit cards are available on upsssc.gov.in.
PET is not a recruitment exam by itself. It is a qualifying test, and its score is used by UPSSSC to shortlist candidates for many Group C posts in Uttar Pradesh government departments. Without a valid PET score, you cannot apply for most UPSSSC Group C mains exams.

Why PET Matters
PET works as the first filter for UPSSSC Group C jobs such as junior assistant, lekhpal, gram panchayat adhikari and similar posts. When UPSSSC announces a mains exam, it calls candidates on the basis of their PET score, often in a fixed ratio to the vacancies. A good PET score therefore decides how many future UPSSSC exams you can sit for, so it is worth taking seriously even though it is only a qualifying test.
Last-Week Preparation Tips
- Revise Uttar Pradesh general knowledge, Indian history, polity and current affairs of the last six months.
- Practise reasoning and basic arithmetic questions with a timer.
- Solve at least one previous PET paper in exam conditions to check your speed.
